Matteo Squeo counsels clients on regulatory compliance related to food and drug law, with an emphasis on food contact materials, chemicals, and biocides. He assists companies in establishing a suitable status for food contact materials and drafts legal opinions evaluating packaging components, including additives, printing inks, adhesives, and color additives used in plastics, paper and paperboard, and coatings.
Matteo is well versed in regulatory requirements related to environmental issues, such as the use of recycled materials intended for food contact applications and requirements regarding biodegradable materials and compostable plastics. He has advised clients regarding EU’s Circular Economy action plan, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and REACH/CLP matters. He also monitors political and legislative developments for clients.
Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, Matteo worked for an Italian law firm and as an EU Public Affairs Consultant where he developed and implemented political, legislative, and regulatory strategies, in addition to establishing and maintaining relationships with EU officials.
