Melvin (Mel) Drozen was a Food and Drug Partner at Keller and Heckman who retired in 2022 as Senior Counsel. He advised clients on a broad spectrum of FDA, FTC, USDA, and EPA (pesticides) regulatory matters, ranging from premarket approval requirements for food additives, dietary supplement ingredients, drugs, and medical devices to advertising and labeling provisions applicable to all of these products. Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, he was an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, and then an attorney in the General Counsel's Office of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for seven years. At the FDA, he represented the agency in a variety of food and drug litigation and provided agency personnel with counsel on food, drugs, and veterinary product matters.

During his time at Keller and Heckman, Mel frequently spoke at food and drug conferences on topics such as food and drug safety and good manufacturing practices. He also was a primary speaker at Keller and Heckman’s Practical Food Law Seminar.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mel received many accolades, including being ranked as an AV® Preeminent™ Rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and being recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for work in FDA Law from 2013 to 2023.
