Cosmetics
Keller and Heckman’s global Food and Drug practice counsels clients on a range of cosmetics regulatory compliance issues, including product labeling and advertising, classifications, liabilities, ingredients, and product defense.
Leaning on our vast experience with drug regulations, we advise clients on classifying a product as a cosmetic or a drug. In collaboration with our in-house scientists, we provide guidance on the safety testing of cosmetic ingredients, including toxicology, carcinogenicity, and sensitivity testing on volunteers. We provide clients with a thorough review of their product labels and advertisements to assure compliance with U.S., European Union (EU), and related international agencies.
Our attorneys assist clients with compliance issues, including good manufacturing practices, recordkeeping, product recalls, and governmental inspection practices. If the need arises, and in conjunction with our Litigation practice, we defend against Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advertising complaints, enforcement actions, and prosecutions, and defend against competitor challenges in court and other forums.
