Taylor Johnson Quoted in SHRM Article on New Proposed Rule for Workplace Inspections
Keller and Heckman Associate Taylor Johnson was quoted in the SHRM article, “Proposal Would Expand Authorized Participants in Worksite Inspections.” The article refers to a new proposed rule by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) that would broaden who can be authorized to accompany Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) compliance officers during workplace inspections. This expansion would authorize a nonemployee third party under a few conditions.
Taylor commented that employers should “be concerned about this proposed rule because, at least until now, the agency has conflated the question of whether it is reasonably necessary to bring along a third party with the question of whether that third party is merely capable of making a positive contribution to a thorough inspection.”
