Rohit Sabnis Quoted in Chemical Watch Article on California’s Proposition 65 Implementation

Keller and Heckman Partner Rohit Sabnis was quoted in the Chemical Watch article, “How successful is the implementation of California’s Proposition 65?” The article discusses the successes and failings of California’s Proposition 65, as well as the debate as to whether the law has benefitted public and environmental health or caused confusion among consumers and businesses. Rohit stated that the primary incentive for certain groups filing claims appears to be “the potential to recover attorney’s fees.” He goes on to say that the risk of Prop 65 litigation seems to be increasing, especially over the last few years. 

The article examines many other facets of Prop 65 and concludes the discussion over its effectiveness by touching on the role of social media in the confusion surrounding Prop 65 warnings. Rohit noted that it is easy for someone to post a warning on social media “and start a discussion with a wide audience that wouldn’t have been possible even just several years ago.”
