Keller and Heckman Partners Mike Novak and Manesh Rath were quoted in the Bloomberg Law article, “Businesses Seeking Legal Help to Make COVID-19 Fighting Products.” The article discusses how, due to the coronavirus pandemic, companies that don’t normally do so are now producing hand sanitizer and other cleansing products to help consumers battle against COVID-19. Many of these companies already produce ethanol, a key ingredient in hand sanitizers, but what they originally produce it for is crucial to whether they need government approval to use it to produce hand sanitizer. These companies are seeking the guidance of attorneys who specialize in federal chemical regulations. They are also facing other issues that need legal clarification such as emergency exemptions for antimicrobials, shipping hurdles, and whether the government considers their products essential.
