Manesh Rath Quoted in InsideOSHA Article on the Withdrawal of Nominee, Scott Mugno
The InsideOSHA article discusses the recent withdrawal of nominee Scott Mugno from the Assistant Secretary of Labor position, which is a leadership role at OSHA. Mr. Mugno had waited 19 months for confirmation from the Senate before he decided to follow “other pursuits”.
In the article, Keller and Heckman partner Manesh Rath said, “This is a misfortune for all for OSHA, for employers, and most importantly for workers. Workplace safety and health ought to have been spared from politicization.”
Mr. Rath continued, “Now OSHA will experience the longest period without a Senate-confirmed Assistant Secretary in the agency’s history. Without Senate-confirmed leadership, Congress has only succeeded in making it more difficult for OSHA to fulfill its role in improving workplace safety and health.”
