Manesh Rath Quoted in Inside OSHA Article on OSHA’s Compliance Approaches to Fall Prevention and Silica Dust
Keller and Heckman Partner Manesh Rath was quoted in the Inside OSHA article, “Parker Sees ‘Strategic’ Compliance Approach on Fall-Prevention, Silica Rules.” The article refers to Keller and Heckman’s October 9, 2024, OSHA 30/30 webinar, A Conversation with the Honorable Douglas Parker, the Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, where Parker mentioned that OSHA is looking to adopt “a more strategic approach” to enforcement and compliance assistance for its safety standards on both fall prevention and silica dust.
In response to a question from Manesh about OSHA’s approach to emerging hazards, Parker shifted the discussion from fall prevention to the agency’s standards for respirable crystalline silica (RCS). Manesh brought up reports of silicosis with onset times much shorter than usual, noting that this is “a phenomenon of particular interest to the agency.”
