Keller and Heckman Partner James Votaw Quoted in InsideEPA Article on Regulations Under TSCA
Keller and Heckman Partner James Votaw was quoted in the InsideEPA article, “TSCA Article Regulations Pose Litany Of Challenges To Industry Sectors.” The article discusses challenges faced by the industry as the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) increasingly regulates chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). According to James, some concerns for the industry include the various components that make up supply chains, protecting confidential information (e.g., a company’s supply chain information), and the “overly optimistic expectations” that the EPA seems to have regarding the review and subsequent elimination of chemicals and components deemed to be harmful. Based on comments provided by the Assistant Administrator of the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention at EPA, Michal Freedhoff, James warns companies “that EPA is going to be looking at many more opportunities at regulating articles.”
