Herb Estreicher Cited in Article on Turkey, Priority Chemicals, and Risks
Keller and Heckman Partner Herb Estreicher was cited in the Bloomberg Law article, “Turkey Identifies Priority Chemicals to Undergo Risk Assessment.” The article notes how Turkish authorities will conduct risk assessments of 131 chemicals to determine their effects on human health and the environment, according to a document released by Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning.
The document identifies the first set of priority chemicals that will be reviewed under Turkey’s new chemicals regulatory system. The priority list, published online in July, includes formaldehyde, chloroform, ammonium nitrate, and benzene. Turkish officials also will conduct risk assessments on the pesticide active ingredients atrazine and trifluralin, which U.S. environmental groups claim pose significant environmental threats.
