David Joy Interviewed for Law360 Pulse Article on Returning to Keller and Heckman After 15 Years at FDA
Keller and Heckman Partner David Joy was interviewed for the Law360 Pulse article, “Longtime Keller & Heckman Atty Rejoins After 15 Years At FDA.” The article focuses on David’s notable career path, which began on Keller and Heckman’s scientific staff. He spent over two decades at the firm before taking a position with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Now, after nearly 15 years, David is welcomed back to Keller and Heckman. “I liked the firm, the people here and the type of work that they do,” commented David. “I always felt like a good fit, so I thought this was a great time to come back. Keller and Heckman's food and drug practice is very scientific. Our in-house scientists help us tackle the issues where science and law come together, and that staff is a very important part of what we do.”
At FDA, David worked on a wide range of regulatory policy matters, including handling citizen petitions and developing agency responses. According to David, the variation of experiences has helped him in private practice as it exposed him to a different perspective regarding the same issues his clients typically deal with. “The outside world grapples with the same issues and the industry is dealing with them from their perspective, wanting to do what's right, stay out of trouble and get their products on the market,” he stated. “I'll be pretty much dealing with the same issues from the other side.”
