Chemical Watch Article Features David Fischer’s Views on EPA’s TSCA Prioritisation Process
Keller and Heckman Counsel David Fischer was quoted in the Chemical Watch article “EPA looks to begin TSCA prioritisation process by late next year.” The article discusses the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prospective plan to start the prioritisation process to discover the next batch (i.e., the third batch) of pressing substances for risk evaluation under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) by the end of next year. The agency’s statement reveals their effort to continue conducting chemical reviews, despite past struggles to meet deadlines. The process, which should take less than 12 months, will also have a review deadline of three additional years, meaning the newest batch would be completed in 2026. However, according to David, “None of the risk evaluation under way now... will end at the same time.” He believes that these evaluations will be reviewed in a staggered method, instead of all at once, due to the agency’s current schedule for reviews
