Pleading Cycle Set for Mobility Fund and Wireless Infrastructure

The Mobility Fund II Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and the Wireless Infrastructure NPRM were published in the Federal Register last week.  Publication set the pleading cycles for the proceedings.  For the Wireless Infrastructure NPRM, comments are due June 9 and reply comments are due July 10.  For the Mobility Fund II NPRM, comments are due May 16 and reply comments are due May 26.  For more information, please contact Tom Magee (magee@khlaw.com; 202.434.4128). 

FCC Chairman Announces Broadband Committee Working Group Members

The FCC issued a Public Notice announcing that Chairman Ajit Pai officially appointed members to serve on two Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC) working groups, Model Code for Municipalities and Model Code for States.  Douglas Dimitroff, a founder of the New York State Wireless Association, will serve as the Chair of the Model Code for Municipalities.  San Jose Mayor, Sam Liccard, will serve as the Vice-Chair.  For the Model Code for States, Kelly McGriff, general counsel, at Southern Light, will serve as Chair, and Karen Charles Peterson, a representative from the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, will serve as Vice-Chair.  The Public Notice also stated that the process for other BDAC working groups is ongoing.  

May Open Meeting Agenda

Chairman Ajit Pai of the FCC announced in a press release the tentative agenda for the May Open Commission Meeting taking place on Thursday, May 18, 2017.  The commission will review a number of circulated items, including but not limited to, the Connect America Fund, Restoring Internet Freedom, and Part 95 Reform.  For more information, please contact Wes Wright (wright@khlaw.com; 202.434.4239).

Chairman Pai’s First 100 Days

The Office of FCC Chairman Pai released a statement listing the accomplishments made in his first 100 days as Chairman.  The list entitled “Bringing the Benefits of the Digital Age to All Americans,” focuses on actions taken to remove regulatory burdens and close the digital divide.  The accomplishments range from rulemakings to proceedings involving individual entities.

Wireless Infrastructure Show

The Wireless Infrastructure Show is an annual opportunity for industry leaders to network, collaborate and exchange information, and showcase their products and services. The 2017 Show will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL, May 22-25. KH Attorneys Wes Wright and Mike Fitch will be attending the conference.  

FirstNet State Plan Workshop

This week, the State Plan Workshop will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The workshop will focus on how states will be reviewing and evaluating coverage plans provided by FirstNet.
