FCC Revokes Licenses for Delinquent Fees
The FCC issued an Order last week revoking LDC Telecommunications’ Section 214 license for failing to pay outstanding regulatory fees. LDC’s license was issued in 2008 to provide facilities-based and resold international telecommunications services. The Order stated that LDC had outstanding regulatory fees from 2012 and 2014 and failed to respond to multiple Commission inquiries into its delinquent debts.
PDV Out of FirstNet Running
pdvWireless, Inc. announced last week in an SEC filing that it was no longer being considered for the First Responder Network Authority (“FirstNet”) Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network contract. The remaining bidding teams still in the running for the FirstNet award are AT&T and Rivada Mercury.
FirstNet Opt-Out
Southern Linc Wireless recently met with Legal Advisors to Chairman Wheeler and all four Commissioners to discuss the FCC’s role in reviewing state opt-out proposals from the FirstNet deployment. Southern Linc’s representatives urged the Commission to adopt a rapid timeline for review but noted that the FCC’s role in the review process should not exclude state opt-out plans that include both a radio access network and a core network. The Commission’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on the procedures for managing the process by which states may opt-out of FirstNet closed late last week (Vol. XIII, Issue 35). The Commission received comments from a number of parties including APCO International, NASCIO, Rivada, and a handful of State and local governments.
Part 22 Extensions Denied
The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau issued an Order last week denying several Notification of Construction extension requests filed by Intelligent Transportation & Monitoring Wireless LLC; Skybridge Spectrum Foundation; and V2G LLC. The licensees sought five-year extension requests for construction deadlines for over two-thousand Part 22 paging licenses. The Order terminated the licenses noting that no construction whatsoever had been completed by the deadline. For more information, please contact Greg Kunkle (kunkle@khlaw.com; 202.434.4178).
