Overview of Keller and Heckman’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration Focus

Keller and Heckman attorneys guide clients through the complex array of global food and drug regulations with which companies must comply and devise creative solutions to problems. We have represented the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) and its Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Packaging Materials Committee for 60 years and, on behalf of PLASTICS, we have been involved in every federal rulemaking related to food-contact substances since the Food Additives Amendment of 1958 was enacted. Of our over 20 staff scientists, at least 10 devote most or all of their time to food and drug issues. This number includes several former FDA chemists and toxicologists. In addition to being in daily contact with our clients, our scientists are often consulted by FDA, the European Commission, and other governmental agencies for their views on analytical methods, international standards-making, and other technical questions. Our scientists bring an invaluable blend of experience to our FDA practice where the problems faced by our clients often involve inseparable scientific and legal issues.

The food and life sciences industries play an essential role in helping consumers maintain their health and well-being. It is no surprise that these products are among the most regulated and scrutinized by governments and other regulators around the world. Keller and Heckman understands the critical role of these industries and, since its inception, the firm has been devoted to helping industry members meet their legal and regulatory needs.
