Keller and Heckman invites you to attend a complimentary webinar, "USDA's Proposed Rule on Bioengineered Labeling - Items Ripe for Comment and Potential Impact on Class Actions."

The USDA AMS has published its highly anticipated proposed rule to implement the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard. Now it's industry's turn to respond via comment to the many important details that will dictate how bioengineered labeling will be applied to food products. Partner Eve Pelonis will present. The webinar will take place Tuesday, June 12 and will provide an overview of the proposed rule with an emphasis on areas that USDA is seeking comments, such as:

  • How will USDA define "bioengineered food"?  For example, will it be broad enough to include technologies, such as CRISPR?
  • What food products will be subject to bioengineered (BE) labeling?  Will "highly refined products" produced with bioengineering be exempt or included in the rule?
  • Will USDA allow for any de minimis exemptions?
  • What will the BE labeling disclosure look like?

We will also discuss how mandatory BE labeling could impact "natural" claim class action lawsuits.

Comments are due on July 3, 2018, so don't miss this important webinar.
