This is the second complimentary webinar following the UK's 'Leave' vote on the 23rd of June 2016, which took everyone by surprise. Considering the announcement from the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, pursuant to which the UK will trigger the start of the exit negotiations "no later than the end of March next year" and which may last up to 2 years, the UK is, thus, set to leave the EU by 2019.
This exit from the EU is a first, and raises many questions, particularly with respect to food contact materials and articles compliance. Join Keller and Heckman speakers from our Brussels office for the second in a series of webinars on Brexit. This webinar will focus on the potential impact of Brexit on trade in the food contact sector, and practical issues that may be encountered by business operators. Topics to be covered include:
- The EU food contact legislation - future status in the UK?
- What would be the status of the UK within the EC Working Group on Food Contact Materials?
- Freedom of movement of food contact materials between the UK and the EU, and the mutual recognition principle. How will this work in practice?
- Petitioning food contact substances to the European Food Safety Authority
- ('EFSA') - Will UK business operators be impacted?
